28th is drawing nearer....

Merry Christmas to all!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful winter break. First and foremost, I apologize for being so completely lazy about posting...or the lack thereof, and I have made an executive decision that I will be doing the complete reviews when it strikes me as necessary or when someone does something particularly fantastic. So keep an eye out for that.

WOO. It's almost time for voting to start again! I'm pumped. I think that because of the voting cycles being fewer and further apart, we will really really get the creme of the crop for the top 10. I'm stoked. I know I've been lazy with posting videos as well, (seeing a pattern here? I'm a little lazy.) but when I get all of them finished, I will be embedding all of them into a post for everyone to see, that way if you have a general comment about all of them, you can easily post them in a comment :)

Along that same note, I just posted what is, in actuality, my second take of Torture by Chocolate Chip Cookies in which I really tried to take into consideration the things suggested by Mattie's Review. For those of you who haven't read it yet, go. Right now. You can finish reading this after. Her reviews were fantastic--as stated by my best friend, she said all of the things that the members of the site are too nice to say; she didn't sugar coat anything, although she wasn't "Well, you really can't act at all. Give up now." and that is hard to come by. Another thing she did that I completely agree with is the fact that she DID take looks into consideration. Now, this may or may not be a big controversy to y'all, but my mind has been made up--I DO think looks matter. Completely. If they cast someone who didn't look remotely like Max or Fang or Iggy, etc. I'd be pissed and heads would roll. I fully recognize that not everyone's opinions are the same, and that's cool! Suggest your opinions to others and maybe they'll see it your way too, maybe they won't, but you never know. In my opinion, as a casting director, you should gather up all of your potential candidates for a role, select who you think looks the most like the character in question, and pick from there, acting-wise. Now, if someone comes along with bright red hair for Max, but totally knocks your socks off with the acting, then sure. By all means, cast her--I really don't want to sit through ANOTHER movie like Twilight in which the main actress (and actor, for that matter) cannot act at all. (And don't give me all the "That just wasn't Kristen's movie" crap, I've seen her other stuff, and you know what? She still sucks. Don't even get me started on her or Robert Pattinson. Dear lord....Ya know? I may do a post simply ranting about them. Look forward to that.)

Anyways, my point being that she had some really great things to say and I love love loved the way she phrased everything and the standards that she had set. So I made this video with her considerations in mind and basically toned down my acting. A lot. Let me know if it's better or worse or what that way I can re-film if necessary by the 28th.

  1. Thanks for the head's up about the post - I'd about given up on you adding anything, hehe :P

I'll have to watch that tonight when I have something better than phone interent. And agreed - her reviews are very "tell it like it is" and she made some very good points.

Looking forward to the KStew/RPatt rant! I don't mind Rob, but Kristen is definitely...euch. Let's just stop there :P

  2. Whoa. Didn't know about that review. Did Sarah know and not tell me? I wish she had! :)

...Speaking of which. The whole thing she said about your acting and physicality got me thinking that you would be really awesome with Commedia d'el arte. The entire point of that style is to be big and over-the-top (especially with physicality). Plus it's really awesome and fun and classical theatre... Just sayin'. I tried this year, but it's definitely not my thing. You could definitely work a Columbine, though, I think. ;)
